Systems for content creation allow us to remain consistent even when motivation fails, helping build momentum and overcome mental barriers that hold us back.

• Creating a system or routine makes content creation habitual rather than dependent on motivation
• Consistency through repetition leads to improvement and efficiency in your craft
• Anxiety about content creation stems from our brain misinterpreting the situation as threatening
• Procrastination is an action, not a characteristic—and it's the main roadblock to achieving content goals
• Setting arbitrary deadlines for success creates unnecessary pressure that hinders progress
• Focusing on how achieving goals will feel rather than when they'll happen improves the journey
• Most people aren't judging your content as harshly as you imagine they are
• Creating from a place of joy and enthusiasm rather than fear transforms the creative process

Welcome to Uploaded and Unfiltered

Speaker 1

Welcome . Welcome back to another episode of uploaded and unfiltered podcast in which I , your host remain , interviews and other content creator in regards to their mental health journey through this world . We call content creation . Thus far , today is September 11 . Content creation thus far . Today is September 11th . Nope , it is not . I don't know why the fuck . It's September 1st and I am tired .

Speaker 1

Today was a busy day . I got a lot of things done , a lot of things accomplished , but I am exhausted and for those times where I just don't have the motivation , hell . I barely have any willpower to do anything Like . All I wanted to do was either turn on Apex , play a few matches or just go to bed early

Creating Systems for Consistency

Speaker 1

. I am grateful for my system . I'm grateful for my routine that I have set up that allows me to hit this podcast every week without missing it . At this point , it's more about not losing the streak , which is helpful because consistency is key , and that's kind of what I want to talk about today Figuring out what your system is to create the content that you want , so that when you don't feel like making content , you can still do it .

Speaker 1

Now I had an idea in regards to like . Let's say , you make a specific type of like fighting game content or Pokemon content , and maybe you're upbeat all those times . You can start a series , or like Sleepy Crip opens Pokemon cards , and I do it while I'm tired , but I still make the content . You need to figure out whatever mechanism , whatever trick that you can do that it'll get you excited to do that thing that you need to do even when you're exhausted . So that's it . Like I was contemplating that hard , like the thought popped up that man , I'm going to take a nap , I'm going to go to sleep or I'm going to just put on Apex , but instantly , because I've been doing this for so long , my brain was like not this Monday , and you do not have a podcast episode edited or ready , go ahead and knock one out and here we are .

Speaker 1

That's the mentality that I think a lot of creators need to get into , but specifically myself when it comes to I know when I want to make like a YouTube video or a TikTok short before today , I would use the excuse of oh , I don't have the energy to do it , I'm just going to do them shit sleepy , or I'm going to do this shit tired . I'm still going to get the content out , but I already have an idea how I can make that even that entertaining and informational for those who watch the video , that even that entertaining and informational for those who watch the video . So it's all about figuring out how to not motivate but start momentum so your brain understands that , hey , you keep doing this , that it must mean that it's safe . So let me stop throwing up that anxiety to get you to stop . I don't know how I'm going to do it , but eventually I'm going to make everybody know or recognize , or at least have the thought in their head , that our emotions come from our mind . Our mind

Understanding Emotional Reactions

Speaker 1

is reacting to either things from the past that it perceives as dangerous or something that we're currently facing that it perceives as dangerous . But specifically , if it perceives something dangerous in the past or in the future , feeling that currently in the now is not useful . It is not helping us move forward towards our goal . It is a waste of time . And I know if you were able to push those emotions away , not even push them away , fix the stuckness that has those emotions coming up , so that they just don't come up anymore , that would be something very beneficial to everybody , not only creators , but just parents , social workers , like everybody in the world , would benefit from reacting to what's in front of them rather than the past or past trauma that might be haunting them in the present .

Speaker 1

Before I get on too much of a long rant , meditation is also one of those things that is very pertinent and important and I have started a sub stack . I believe it's Radiant Reflection or Coach Jermaine . I'll have a link in the description of this show . Go follow my sub stack If you don't know what a sub stack is . It's basically a newsletter that lives on a website but still comes to your inbox , but you can read it on the website if you want . It's kind of like a blog , but that's where I'm going to just start typing up and writing and jotting down some of the wild ideas and just the views that I have when it comes to not only creating content but living as a human being , living as a black man in this chaotic society that and sometimes like since I'm so much on the outside looking in like I can see the strings that are being pulled to get people to react a certain way . I can see the show that this person watched that has informed their world belief on certain topics that should not exist every day . But often I think how much more pleasant the world would be if some of the content , some of the movies , some of the music that exists just didn't . The world would be vastly different . Hell , if we weren't so hell-bent on money , the world

The Power of Consistency

Speaker 1

would be vastly different . But this is . We're not going down that topic today .

Speaker 1

I just wanted to get on here to remind everyone that a consistency is what the name of the game is . With consistency , not only do you get to practice your crafts getting that much more better at it not only are you going to have a backlog of music , videos , instrumentals , how to vlogs , not only are you going to have this vast backlog of content for somebody to dive into who finally discovers you , but it makes the process easier , I'm telling you , once you get consistent and now , consistent doesn't mean I'm going to do this every day , I'm going to do this six times a day . No , consistent means that you're going to find a rhythm and you're going to stay in that rhythm . Mine is . Every Tuesday , a podcast comes out . So I've been doing it for almost almost three years two years , no , it's been two years Like that's part of my , that's part of me now . Like I know , if I don't have something done by Monday , monday night I'm recording a podcast . The family knows doesn't matter if I'm out of town or I'm on vacation , I will get it done to make sure that Tuesday has an episode up and you hear my voice . That is the type of consistency that I want us all to be on when it comes to making these YouTube videos .

Speaker 1

Streaming to TikTok or Twitch or YouTube or wherever you decide to stream at . It is so much easier when you become consistent because , again , with that consistency comes repetition . With repetition comes perfectionism . This is how you get great at your craft . This is how those ideas keep coming . I know a lot of us are scared to like blow up on TikTok with some lame ass idea because you're like oh no , if I blow up with something that's not my usual content , don't think like that . Think , when I do blow up , there's a whole vast variety of things that I could be doing that I would probably be more motivated to do when I have more eyes on me . Now I don't want it to take eyes on you to get motivated to make your content . I don't think . I don't think you want to get it that way either .

Speaker 1

I feel like if you are doing something that you love when you are doing it , that you love when you are doing it , you are coming from a place of excitement , enthusiasm , and you actually love the thing that you're doing . That comes through in your content . If you keep that same energy and just go forward with that . Don't put an expectation date of oh man , I need to be partnered by this , or I need to be partnered on YouTube and partnered by this , or I need to be partnered on YouTube and TikTok by this , or I need to be monetized on this website by this . I feel like putting those expectations up out loud with your words is setting yourself up for failure . If you want to say something out loud , say I am going to be so grateful when I become partner on YouTube and it's going to feel amazing because I'm going to have an extra lane to reach people that I probably wouldn't have reached before . I'm going to be able to monetize something that I love doing and something that is near and dear to my heart , and I'm going to inspire other people to do the same . Don't say , oh , I need to have this partnership by next week , by the end of the year ? Because , honestly , as you're saying that , are you envisioning what it's going to feel like ?

Speaker 1

Unfortunately , or fortunately for its creators , I have noticed that the more I'm in intertwined with the idea of getting what I want , meaning I'm thinking about what's going to happen when I get it . I'm thinking about how my life's going to change . I'm thinking about the things I'll be doing once I get to that spot . It makes the journey to that spot way much more enjoyable . It makes me think I could be actually doing this piece right now . Why do I need to wait until I get there ? I can do this piece right now , and that's going to help push you forward towards that goal , I promise you . Once you get your emotions in order and once you tell your subconscious that certain things that you do are not life threatening , they don't need the anxiety bells going off , they don't need the procrastination bells going off . This is something I'm doing to not only grow myself , but to experience life the way that I want to experience , and that's by showing my content to the world and , who knows , maybe inspiring somebody to do the same , maybe showing somebody a new perspective that they never seen

Overcoming Anxiety and Procrastination

Speaker 1

before . Those are the things that keep me excited about creating content and my content .

Speaker 1

If you went over to my Kryptonite page , it has a theme . It's about joy and fun just things that are exciting and fun to do , but it's all over the place . One day I might be talking about fidgets . One day I might be talking about pens . One day I might be talking about alcohol . One day I might be talking about freeze dried candy . One day I might be talking about ice cream . One day I might be talking about video games . One day I might be talking about Legos . One day I might be talking about moving to North Carolina . The list goes on . But the through line is I am joyful , I am happy , I'm excited to be here and I want to spread that as far as I can . I think I rambled enough . I feel like I hit my 10 minute quota . That's what I was going for . Thank you for listening to this rambling , rambling nonsense that I love to spill out into the atmosphere .

Speaker 1

Every single day I get a chance to , I feel like it's my duty to let people know there are other options to living life . We don't have to live in a constant state of anxiety . We don't have to label ourselves as a procrastinator , because a procrastinator is not a characteristic , it's not something a person is , it's an action , it's something that someone has done . Just because you do that shit doesn't mean you are that shit . And the faster you realize that the your goal is to become monetized with creating content or creating something and providing that to the world .

Speaker 1

Procrastinating is the roadblock that is holding back that dream . The more you procrastinate , the longer it's going to take to get to that dream . And I'm probably talking to myself here , but I need to hear it the more I procrastinate , the longer it's going to take to get to my dream . So why am I wasting time procrastinating , doing things that are not helping me achieve that goal ? The answer is , nine times out of 10 , fear .

Speaker 1

So once you address that fear , whether you do some self deep internalization , looking into yourself and all the other dark magic I don't even know what it's called , but if you want a shortcut book , a session , we don't talk about past traumas . I don't ask you what your relationship , what your mom is . I don't think any of that is necessary for you to move forward without procrastination , for you to move forward without feeling anxious every time you hit the go live button . Because if you sit back and think about it , next time you get anxious . Ask yourself is there something happening right now that is threatening my life ? Because anxiety is your subconscious throwing up signals that get you to stop from doing something , because it thinks that what you're doing is going to cost you your life . So , in that present moment when you're feeling that anxiety , if you do not feel like your life is threatened , remind your subconscious hey , everything is good now I was just thinking about something . We'll stop thinking about it and we can go back to breathing normally . Sometimes that's all it takes .

Speaker 1

Sometimes it takes talking to somebody who's a professional . Lucky for you , you listen to this podcast . I am a professional and I can help you in that regard . So don't hesitate . Don't be like , oh , I don't feel like spending money , or how much would you spend to never have to feel anxiety before going live on any website again ? What would be the cause to get rid of that ? Procrastination ? Because you know deep down inside that procrastination is the one thing that is holding you back . Because you also realize you know , if I get consistent with this , the ideas will come . I will have more time , I will get proficient at editing these videos . So it's not going to take me three days to edit a video . I'm going to edit this thing in like six hours and my idea gets out that much more faster .

Speaker 1

There are too many things that are stopping us from being great , and they're 95% mental . We're constantly thinking , and somebody is thinking this about my content , or they're not really looking for me out here , or I'm too old to be doing this , and those are all bullshit lies that we are telling ourselves . I promise you , if you are a person who is inclined to pass judgment on other people or you are quick to criticize someone , I know for a fact that you probably have some crazy anxiety , probably have some crazy imposter syndrome , because you've done it so much in your life . You think that everybody else in the world is doing the same thing about your content . And let me be the first to tell you , as someone who loves finding new content , loves seeing somebody doing something outside the box , I am never judging somebody's content on the way that it looks , the way that it sounds , the cuts they decide to make , the music they decide to choose , because that is that person's idea .

Speaker 1

Now , if it's super racist or stupid shit like that yeah , I'm judging , but most of that shit don't come up in my life anymore because I'm not actively not that I actively seeked it out .

Finding Joy in Content Creation

Speaker 1

I don't really see that shit anymore . But if you go through life just observing , not judging , not passing judgment , not putting your will on somebody , those thoughts start to fall off , those anxiety and imposter syndrome thoughts start to fall off because you don't think everybody is doing that . In fact , I want to get you to a point where you're not bothered or worried at all what other people are thinking , because you're so much into your shit that you're like , oh , got to get this thing out because people need to see this . I got to get this thing out because I'm super excited about it and I want to share this . That's where I want to get your mind to . Boring about other people's thoughts about your content is not going to be something that even happens in your life anymore after we get done . All right , I think I've . I think I've gone hard enough .

Speaker 1

If you find any benefits from conversations like these and more , please share the podcast with someone who is a creator , uploaded and unfiltered , definitely in all your damn podcast catchers of choices . If you want to book a session . I will have a link to that as well in the show notes . I have a variety of different plans and different options to meet your needs , and if there's something that I don't have and you think of something I actually want to do , something like this , if it's in my wheelhouse , then we'll get it done . Also , again , follow the sub stack . I'll have a link in the description of this podcast , since I can't remember what I named it , but there's two articles up there right now for your reading pleasure .

Speaker 1

Other than that , thank you so much for listening to this podcast . I get so much joy sitting in front of this mic and just talking whatever pops up into my head , because I feel like there's so many things in my head that are beneficial for people to hear , and I have been in the past lazy and procrastinating with getting that content out . The only thing stopping me from achieving my dreams is me , and guess what ? We're done with that bullshit . So I appreciate y'all for listening . Thank you , thank you , thank you and , as always , protect your mental , keep creating content and I'll see you in the next one . Peace .
