Speaker 1:

Welcome. Welcome back to another episode of uploaded and unfiltered, the podcast of which I, your host Jermaine, interviews another content creator. In regards to the journey thus far, if you have been listening to this show for a while, you have know the last few episodes I have not had a guest on. As I reagine what this podcast is, what I wanted to bring to the table and how I want to help out other black creators as I move forward with this journey. Again, we have been on that streak. We have not missed a week yet.

Speaker 1:

And another spoiler alert I have 15 minutes before I have to take my daughter to volleyball practice, so this is a speed run to remind myself that I don't need to prep before I do one of these shows. I have so many things I want to talk about and I need to remember that the content is ever flowing. The content will always be there. I will always have something to talk about. The content will always be there. I will always have something to talk about. And today I want to talk about those little things that get in the way, that some would call problems, hurdles, and treating those as events to not only restructure what you're doing, but appreciate what you're doing. A lot of us do a lot of hard stuff, whether it's advertising on social media, being billions upon billions of hours of video or just showing up for a live stream and being entertaining. Those skills go unnoticed for the most part, and it's up to us to show gratitude and be grateful for those moments where we're shining and not everybody's seeing it. First and foremost, I probably already said that, but shout out to the homie Basu Basu versus. I just saw that he got a partner with Bando Namco, the team that brings you Tekken 8, which is a mass surprise. This is a long time overdue. I'm glad that he finally hit it and it's awesome, so it's something that we need to celebrate and make sure that he gets his flowers. But in regards to things that pop up in your workflow like that, I have been on this infinite possibilities tip for the longest. Shout out to Loki for probably like cracking this open. Even more so for me. But in a world where we have no idea what the future holds, we don't have the next 10 minutes holds.

Speaker 1:

I think it is crucial for us to focus on the things that we want to happen, the things that we have control over and the things that make more sense for us as far as attributes to our lives go. I don't think there is any reason why we should be walking around angry, upset, mad, by default, if we can avoid it. That shit doesn't bring anything to our life except for pain for those around us, misery for us while we're going through it, and it doesn't bring any clarity to help solve some of the problems that may be causing you to be angry. Anger was one of my default emotions up until man, maybe a month ago, maybe a month and a half, where I went to a session kind of like what I will be providing my clients with, and we talked about the stuckness that I had, and the stuckness was I had this I don't want to say irrational, but I used to get super angry To a point of like it clouded my judgment when it came to, when I came to think about the oppression that black people have in America, when it comes from how we show up in social media to the things that happened in the past. It was taken from us, burnt down. All types of shit like that used to get me angry, and now it doesn't. Now I'm looking at it from a OK, never again, and how do we, of course course, correct this for the future? I realize that anger only gets me in a state, an emotional state, of just cloudiness. I'm angry, I want to do some shit that probably wouldn't be beneficial to my family or I, and that anger did not serve me.

Speaker 1:

I think the problem is. The problem that I was having is I didn't know what to feel outside of anger. I thought if I wasn't angry then I didn't care, or that I just was like let this go scot-free, which is not the case. There are a plethora of emotions that you can feel outside of anger that would be beneficial to you in this moment. So for me, I switched over to problem solving. I was like all right, this is the issue. We're not shown any light that I would like to see us in in the media. So how do I fix that? I help more Black creators make content. That's one way without getting angry.

Speaker 1:

The wealth, desperation, like there's so many things that you just need to figure out an emotion or a thought process that is not anger, and I usually will lead you to where you want to go Because, again, anger is one of those emotions that is there Like if it's a surprise boom, something happened and you get angry and it's going to keep you alive, ok. But even then I would say being clear minded and level headed would be far more beneficial than being angry and and upset. But I think that is one of those cheat codes in not just content creation but life that when you sit down and think about it, almost everything I'm 43 years old everything that I used to be like nervous about beforehand was always. It always worked in my favor, always. I remember vividly before I started one of my IT jobs.

Speaker 1:

I never did that position before, but I knew, like I knew in my heart of hearts, that I was going to smash it before. But I knew, like I knew in my heart of hearts that I was going to smash it. But because I never did it in real life, I allow that anxiety to shape how I thought about the like weeks before I even started, a couple of weeks in, I was like I'm him, I know what I'm doing. Like this is exactly what I thought it would be. And I'm one of the best here, because when I put my mind to something, it doesn't matter what it is. When I put my mind to something, it's a wrap, I become proficient in it. I change that. Whatever that event or that task or that, whatever it may be, I change it to fit my needs and I need to remember that, when it comes to everything, when it comes to coaching, when it comes to creating content on YouTube, I do it my way and whatever way I decide to do it in satisfies me and the people will follow. Simple as that.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, I just want to keep that streak alive, get this podcast up and just remind you, if something happens is meant to be, there will be a challenge associated with it, and challenge doesn't mean negative. Challenge doesn't mean it's going to be hard. Challenge means you're going to have to step outside of your comfort zone and I think, for a lot of us, being in our comfort zone, we don't even realize how much we're in our comfort zone until someone tries to pull us out of it. It's a great place to be in, but we need to redirect our comfort zone, we need to make a new comfort zone, and I promise you, on the other side of anything that you want, on the other side of that fear or that, I don't know the whole plan, all of that is always what you want, and there's so many things that, if I can drill this into your head you do not need a plan for everything that you do in life.

Speaker 1:

In fact, sometimes going in without a plan is that much more fun, as long as you are not the type of person that's going to freak out when things don't go exactly how you thought they would. If you go in with no expectations except for you know, this is a goal that I want, and as things pop up, you deal with them. You don't worry, pre-worry ahead of time, you don't get anxious ahead of time. As those things pop up, you deal with them. In that time, the journey is so much more fun. The journey becomes something that you look forward to. It's no longer a grind, it's no longer work, it's what you do, because this is who I want to be and this is how I get there. So let's move accordingly.

Speaker 1:

All right, I hope that made sense. I don't want to stay on here too long because we got a deadline. I got to be out of here in five minutes, make sure this little one gets to her volleyball practice and, who knows, maybe I'll shoot something in the car. Yeah, that sounds like something I'll do. Anyways, thank you for listening. I appreciate you.

Speaker 1:

Soon I will be popping up on Miss Jam's Good Instagram show. I just need to fill out the paperwork and necessary things for that. Also, if you haven't already booked you a session, what are you waiting for? Head over to the link in the description where you can pick which option works best for you. It is my goal to get as many people through their stucknesses, through their emotional baggage that is keeping them down, because it is my belief that content creation is 90, 95% mental. What you think, what you tell yourself, is how you're going to enjoy or not enjoy this move. So if you need help with feeling like an imposter or you want to get more consistent with your content, I got you. Hit me up and we'll make a plan that works, just just for you. Okay, all right, appreciate y'all as always, protect your mental, keep creating content and I'll see you in the next one. Peace.
